The 21 Century Sejong Project aims to establish
a mid- and long-term development plan for the Korean language by constructing a computer-aided information database
in which Korean people can realize advanced information culture in an independent way. Developing and globalizing
the advanced technology in which all the cultural information from the world is processed in the Korean writing system
are believed to be an efficient way for Korea to get a leading position in the international IT competition
and realize advanced information culture independently.
To achieve the goal, a ten-year (1998-2007) development plan is established in which government policies on language
is directly linked with the specific efforts to develop an efficient information processing technology,
promote correct use of the Korean language, and publish facts about scientific excellence of the Korean alphabet system.
